Enviroschools - Growth Games

Mrs N. Chapman, Enviroschools Co-ordinator —

The final House competition of the year was... the Growth Games!

Each House competed to create the most impressive garden, and by Friday the 16th of November the gardens, despite the weather, were indeed striking. Along with an array of (still-youthful) plants we had glorious green scarecrows with glitter and a beautiful blue windmill.

The judging categories were largest lettuce, longest carrot, most variety, most aesthetically pleasing and most productive ... and Williams were the winners! Their garden looks absolutely beautiful and now has plants ready to harvest (Benjamin's "longest" carrots are still not quite ready!).Many thanks to our expert gardening judges, Mr Jock Murley, and Ms Anne Babbage and Mrs Christine Cook. Many thanks also to our wonderful Year 13 Enviroschools students, who were later farewelled with a shared lunch and gifts. We shall miss you all a great deal, but your contributions to Enviroschools will live on, not least in the gardens!
