Lions Young Speechmaker Competition
On Sunday, three of our talented speakers participated in the Lions Young Speechmaker contest. Freya Glover, Aimee Fraser, and Margo Trump gave outstanding speeches. Aimee spoke about media representation of women in sport, particularly Sky Sport's sexist TikTok channel, which collapsed after three days in 2025. Margo talked about the troubling treatment of women in New Zealand prisons. At the same time, Freya spoke to us about her passion for Te Reo Māori and the need for Aotearoa New Zealand to continue to embrace and normalise its use. Huge congratulations go to Freya, who was placed as a runner-up in this prestigious competition. The judges spoke warmly of all our speakers, and we congratulate our wāhine toa for their strong stances on matters of real importance to our community.
