Otago Girls' High School had four teams competing at the Otago-Southland Cross Country Relays in Milton last week. Our Junior 1 team won the junior race and our Senior 1 team were runners-up in their race.

In a highly competitive field comprising nine teams, the OGHS Junior 1 team of Milly Hoeta, Taylor McLean, Anabelle Batchelor and Lisa Lokman had an outstanding race coming home a minute ahead of the field.

Of the 36 runners in the race, Taylor recorded the fastest lap time with Lisa awarded the second fastest lap time just 0.3s behind.

The Senior 1 team of Catherine Lund, Sophie Matehaere, Kate Pyper and Jordan Evans-Tobata had a great battle up front eventually settling for a second placing.

Catherine Lund was in excellent form using the race as a build-up for the NZ Secondary School Cross Country Championships in Nelson just ten days away.
