Year Ten Camp 2022: Building Memories and Skills for Life

Miss M Young, Year 10 Camp Coordinator —

All Year Ten students will be participating in an outdoor education camp at the end of term four, from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December. There will be a variety of camp options for students to select from to meet their needs. Over the past years, camps and tramps have been offered on the Great Walks, on Stewart Island, around the Central Otago and South Canterbury regions. Camp is always a rewarding, exciting and fun week. Students get the chance to be challenged, empowered, inspired and to dream. It is an opportunity to visit and explore beautiful and unique areas in the South Island, some of which are not accessible by road. Students often reflect on their experiences outside the classroom as being the highlight of their school days, Year Ten camp is no exception!

Essential clothing and gear for all camps are: polypropylene or merino under layers, woollen or polar fleece jumper, waterproof jacket, woollen gloves, woollen or fleece beanie, woollen socks, and a warm sleeping bag. It is a good idea to start thinking about these items and asking around and/or taking the opportunity to purchase them on sale.

Last year, the contribution for camp varied between $220 and $280. There will be an increase this year due to rising living costs.
