Ms C. Hokianga, Sports Co-ordinator —

Congratulations to all sports team who have taken to the fields, courts, and other venues around Dunedin. We have started the winter sports season off well with pleasing results across all winter sports codes.

A few wee reminders - wear your OGHS uniform with pride, remember fair play, thank our coach’s manager and officials.

What is coming up at OGHS

The annual triangular exchange between OGHS, WGHS and SGHS takes part on Tuesday 18 August. This exchange is for Senior A teams and a good warm-up for winter sports week which commences on Monday 31 August.

Junior Exchange between OGHS and WGHS is being held at OGHS this year. Once again this involves our Year 9 and Year 10 A teams.

Winter sports week is 31 August to 4 September.

Who is Visiting the School?

Last term we had ex-girl Suzie Bates take our cricket girls for a session in the gym. Suzie enjoyed taking a coaching session with the cricketers so much that she offered two more sessions. Suzie will be in the OGHS gym again on Friday 7 August. If you are thinking about playing cricket in Term Four this would be a good opportunity to come over the gym at lunchtime on these two days and pick up some valuable tips from the world’s best female cricketer.

We value what you do

If you have any sporting achievements that you would like to share with us, please let the Sports Department know. This just does not have to be achievements within OGHS. If you are playing sport outside of the school sports, we would love to hear about it. Sporting achievements can be emailed to Ms Hokianga, hk@otagogirls.school.nz
