Notice to Parents/Caregivers of OGHS Netball Players

We are excited at your daughter's interest in playing Netball for OGHS this season.

The Edgar Sports Centre on Portsmouth Drive is the venue for all Netball games. Entry fees are as follows:

Single entry: 

High School Student : $2.50

Adult Spectator & Coaches : Free

Season Membership (April - September): $95.00

Please note if your daughter does not have her $2.50 entry fee for the Edgar Centre she may be denied entry, this directive has come from the Edgar Centre

High School Student: 10 visits - $22.50, 20 visits - $40.00, 31 visits $52.50

Trials & Start Dates:

1st trial Sunday 19 March 2017 – OGHS Gym & Netball Courts

9am-11.30am Senior trials – Please note senior A trial is open to all year levels

1pm-2.30pm Year 9 trials OGHS Netball Courts

3pm-4.30pm Year 10 trials OGHS Netball Courts

2nd trial Sunday 26 March – Edgar Centre

9am-11.30am Senior trials – Edgar Centre ($2.50 entry fee)

1pm-2.30pm Year 9 trials – Edgar Centre ($2.50 entry fee)

3pm-4.30 Year 10 trials – Edgar Centre ($2.50 entry fee)

Start Dates: 

Senior A team only Saturday 1April – 19 August

All other teams Saturday 6 May – 26 August

Senior Social Netball Teams:

Only Year 11-Year 13 are able to enter social teams. The requirements for social teams are:

  • A team of 10 players (teams must meet with Sports Coordinator/TIC Netball before they are entered)
  • An ADULT manager who is available to be with team every playing Saturday
  • Be aware of all Dunedin Netball Centre rules and regulations which can be found on the Dunedin Netball Centre website, competitions@dunedinnetball.co.nz

The social grade is for one round only and fees are set at $42.00 per person. If a social team wishes to play for the whole season they can. The team spokesperson needs to make this known to the Sports Coordinator/TIC Netball when they are submitting their team, fees are then set at $70.00 per person.

Fees/Sports Contracts:

Sports registration form and fees are to be finalised before team lists are published.

Fees are $70 per player (2 sisters $120, 3 sisters $150) this is inclusive of $15.00 for the hire of the netball uniform. Social teams, Year 11-Year 13 only, who play one term only fees are $42.00, whole season $70.00. Only girls who have paid fees and have filled in the registration forms which can be found on the Community Notice Board (please note that winter sports registration forms have yet to be added to the Community Notice Board) can be included in teams and receive uniforms. If you anticipate any problems with this payment please do not hesitate to contact the school or the teacher in charge of Netball, Ms Hokianga.

PLEASE NOTE – The registration form on the Community Notice Board needs to be filled in by you as a student along with your parents/caregivers, this indicates that you have accepted the terms and conditions.

Injuries:

For all students who sustain an injury that prevents them from training or playing we would appreciate written advice from your Doctor or Physiotherapist for the best course of action. Students are expected to still attend trainings and games to support their team if they are physically able

Uniform:

The majority of our teams are now in the new netball dress. There will still be some teams who will be required to wear the OGHS skirt and top.

Umpiring Duties:

All senior teams and all teams in the Premier Grade of the Secondary Schools will be expected to have an umpiring duty every Saturday. Teams in the premier grades will be required to attend a basic umpires course (Game in Action). This is a requirement put in place by the Dunedin Netball Centre.

Tournaments:

The Junior A and Intermediate A Tournament will be held in Christchurch the first week of the July school holidays, 9-12 July 2017

The South Island Secondary Schools' Senior A Tournament will be held on 3-7 September 2017 in Christchurch.

Senior A team only - Triangular Tournament between OGHS, WGHS and SGHS is being held at OGHS, Wednesday 23 August.

Year9A & 10A exchange with WGHS will be held at WGHS date to be advised.

Senior A, 10A and 9A Harraways Otago Secondary Schools' Tournament will be held 11-12 June
