Mana Wahine 2022

Mrs B Davidson, Principal —

67 students attended the Mana Wahine Day at Te Tumu on Wednesday. Speakers included Matua Mac giving an excellent kōrero about what getting a tertiary education had meant to his life, Associate Professor Anne-Marie Jackson from the School of Physical Education, Janine Kapa from the Otago Polytechnic, Professor Jacinta Ruru from the Faculty of Law, ex-students Jen Marsh, Rachel O'Kane and Hannah Matehaere. We also had two other university students - Te Kahurangi and Manaia - speaking about their tertiary journey, and giving advice about managing the freedom of tertiary study, flatting, hostels and all manner of other things. After lunch Kaitlyn Marsh, Lily Welsh and Izzy Edmonds did an awesome job of teaching kapa haka to the entire group. Thanks to the staff who supported the kaupapa and also to those who attended the Whānau Hui.
