School Council

Sophia Niblock, Head of School Council —

The School Council Prefects were very excited to welcome our Year 9 to 13 representatives to our first meeting in Week 5.

We began to plan and brainstorm some of the goals we hoped to achieve throughout the year. Ideas such as the OBHS/OGHS quiz, the international food festival and scarves, were mentioned. We came up with a range of projects that would benefit both students, staff, and the wider community. We are hoping to fundraise and support Ronald McDonald House, attend the Dunedin World Vision conference, and much more! The School Council team was very excited to start the year off on a high with the OGHS mosaic which is almost complete! This mosaic has been underway since 2019, so we can’t wait to reveal the finished product later on in the year for the 150th. With many students mentioning that they had no idea what the Student Council got up to, we decided to start an instagram account @oghsschoolcouncil to update the school regularly. We would like to thank everyone who applied for the School Council representative roles, you all demonstrated your passion, dedication, and commitment to this school, which you should be proud of. The School Council team would love to encourage anyone to come along and put forward any ideas they have, the meetings are not closed and everyone is most welcome to come and voice their ideas, concerns, etc!

Congratulations to our representatives:
