Year 11 Science

Jess and Rose in Year 11 —

Today in year 11 science we measured the temperature of stearic acid. We boiled the water on the hot plate. Once it got to 80 degrees we placed a test tube with 15 grams of stearic acid into the boiling water. Once the acid melted into a liquid we took it out of the water bath and we measured the temperature for 15 minutes in 30 second intervals. After it had cooled down the liquid started to solidify and the acid clumped back together the temperature didn’t change during the change of state.
