Success at the NZ Division 2 Swimming Championships
Moana Pool was a hive of activity over the weekend as it hosted the NZ Division 2 Swimming Championships, and we are proud of the results achieved by our two competing 14-year-old students.
Annalise Miller took the block to compete in her less-favoured events, having already qualified for the National Age Group Championships in her specialty Freestyle events. Despite the change in focus, Annalise performed brilliantly, setting new Personal Bests (PBs) in every single event. She placed 6th and 7th in the 100m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke respectively, but her individual standout was a massive 10-second PB in the 200m Backstroke to claim Silver.
Ivy Weatherston-Harvey continued the impressive momentum she built in Christchurch the previous weekend. Over the course of the last two weekends, Ivy has achieved an incredible six National Age Group qualifying times. Her medal haul was extensive:
Gold: 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, and 100m Backstroke.
Silver: 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, and 50m Butterfly.
Bronze: 200m Backstroke and 50m Backstroke.
Both girls were also key members of the Neptune Relay teams. They finished 4th in the 4x100m Medley and 3rd in the 4x50m Freestyle. The ultimate highlight came at the very end of the meet, where they secured a fantastic win in the 4x50m Mixed Medley.
The hard work doesn't stop here! The week after Easter, Ivy, Annalise, Isabella Miller, and Hannah Kerr-Fox will travel to Hawke's Bay to represent the school at the National Age Group Championships. We look forward to seeing how these talented athletes fare against the best in New Zealand.
