Year 9 Junior Programme

Ms C Hayward, Year 9 Dean —

Our Year 9 students have wrapped up a fantastic week of creative and collaborative activities as part of the Junior Programme! It has been wonderful to see them bonding, exploring new skills, and engaging with great enthusiasm.

A major focus this week has been the highly anticipated Year 9 Film Challenge and preparations for the annual Lip Sync Battle. Students have been busy storyboarding, scripting, filming, and editing their short films, displaying remarkable creativity and teamwork. We eagerly anticipate the screening of the selected finalists' work on Monday!

Beyond the spotlight, the students also channeled their energy into community engagement by contributing to the “Sending Love Ōtepoti” project, making heartfelt cards for distribution across local residential care homes.

The programme was rounded out with a diverse mix of hands-on activities, including:

  • Baking delicious Christmas treats

  • Flax weaving and mask making

  • Energetic games of Pickleball

  • Choral singing

It has been a truly positive experience watching our students grow their skill sets outside of the standard classroom setting. A huge thank you must go to Mrs. Sue Porter and all the dedicated staff members whose contributions ensured the success of this vibrant week.
