South Island Satellite Football Tournament

Mrs B. Davidson, Deputy Principal —

OGHS First XI Football competed in the South Island Satellite Football tournament this week. After wins against Dunstan High School (2-nil), Queen's High School (1-nil wearing the alternative orange strip), St Kevin’s College (3-nil) and Kavanagh College (1-nil) we then qualified for the grand final against Columba College. It was a dramatic end-to-end contest that went on into the second half of extra time when Charli Elliott from Year 9 scored the winning goal - set up by a beautiful cross from Gabby Liddell. Big thanks to our coach Eddie Djikstra who calmly lead us through to victory. This is an exciting time as we farewell just one Year 13 student, Alie Muldrew, leaving a very promising team of young players to develop in future years. Shout-out also to our crazy captain, Jemma Wilson, who kept the team on task and pumped with her theme song Waterloo and was awarded Most Valuable Player. An amazing achievement team - well done!!
