Principal's Report
Kia ora koutou
This week has been a wonderful celebration of the Arts with the Big Sing Choir competition on Monday, Ōtākou/Murihiku Ngā Manu Kōrero speech competition on Thursday, Rockquest regional finals tonight and the final touches being put on our School Production ‘The Magic City’ which opens on Wednesday night. Do come along.
Today is Library Day. Well done to all students who dressed up and to Monique Patterson our school librarian, Harindi Poddiwala, our Library Prefect and our guest speaker, children’s author Swapna Haddow who worked hard to make this a spectacular celebration based around Childhood Nostalgia. Books are an education and a delight. Let us celebrate books today and the escape they give into another world and into others’ lives. I asked students today in assembly to commit to reading books to their own children and extended family, and perhaps even to write books, letters, poetry and the important stories we hold within ourselves.
I would like to take a moment to pay tribute to the life and educational legacy of Kristan Mouat, Principal of Logan Park High School, who died last Saturday from a heart attack. Kristan was a Media Studies specialist and a great educator and leader. Her legacy will live on and she will be remembered for being a warm, vibrant and nurturing leader.
