National Titles and PB Smashed
In Auckland, our athletes competed for Otago at the New Zealand Track & Field Championships, facing the strongest fields seen in recent years.
Skye Wilson (Year 10) had a phenomenal meet, being crowned the U16 Long Jump National Champion. Skye led the competition from her very first jump, eventually setting a new Otago record and PB of 5.41m. She also secured a Silver Medal in the U16 80m Hurdles with a new PB of 12.30s.
Ex-girl Jade Wilson (2025 Māori Prefect) showed great composure in the U20 category, earning a Bronze Medal and a new PB in the 400m Hurdles. She also placed 4th in a lightning-fast 100m Hurdles final, clocking a new PB of 15.51s.
Eva McLean (Year 10) also took on the best in the country in the 800m and 1500m. Eva achieved her primary goal of breaking the 2.20 barrier in the 800m, qualifying for the final and setting a new PB of 2.19.79. She finished 9th and 12th, respectively, gaining invaluable experience for the upcoming Secondary School season.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to their coaches, Brent Ward and Mike Weddell, for their guidance, and the parents and supporters who make these trips possible.
