Choral Festival in 1950 or 1951
In a nostalgic journey back to the 1950s, we have unearthed a precious gem from the late Marion Isobel Frew's collection, shared by her son, Roger Hynd. Marion, known by her married name Marion Isobel Hynd, was an OGHS student until 1951, making this photo a captivating piece of our school's history.
The photograph, believed to be taken in either 1950 or 1951, captures the essence of school life during that era. Marion, a senior at the time, can be spotted in the right-hand front row, seventh from the left end—a testament to the enduring memories of her time at OGHS.
As we marvel at this snapshot from the past, we invite our alumni community to share their insights and stories. Were you there? Can you recognise familiar faces or provide additional context to this? Your contributions will help enrich the narrative of our school's vibrant history.
We extend our gratitude to Roger Hynd for generously sharing this treasure from his mother's collection. Marion, who spent most of her life in Christchurch, remained an enthusiastic Ex-Girl, contributing to the legacy of OGHS in her city.
