MidYIS Baseline Assessment

Mrs B Davidson, Tūmuaki~Principal —

MidYIS is a rigorous tool for measuring value added in a school and is administered by the University of Canterbury. MidYIS stands for Middle Years Information System and is an hour-long test taken in the first term at school. The test is designed to measure, as far as possible, ability and aptitude for learning rather than achievement. We use MidYIS to measure progress made by the school and how well we are realising potential from Years 9-11.

We are thrilled to report our MidYIS overall school result for this year which is 1.0 - which equates to a large positive value added overall for our students in Year 12 and affirms the work we do every day in our school. The results correlate highly with future assessments and are a good predictor of academic achievement in a wide range of subject areas.
