Welcome to Year 9

Ms J. Nielson, Year 9 orientation —

We are delighted with how well our 160 new Year 9 students have settled into life at Otago Girls' High School.

The first day of school was spent with liaison teachers and core classes, where new friendships were quickly forged. As part of their orientation to the school, the girls learnt how to log onto the school’s network and Google Classrooms. We were impressed with their adept computing skills and preparedness with their devices.

Our Year 13 Peer Support Leaders also played a significant part in the first day, as they guided the Year 9s on a school tour and answered questions about the school. The Peer Support Leaders will continue to build relationships with the Year 9s during Wednesday i-times throughout the year and will accompany them on Year 9 Camp.

To conclude the first day, girls met their whanau teacher and Head of House. Excitement is already building for our first interhouse competition of Sports Day next Friday.

We are impressed by how well everyone has settled into school life and routines, however if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your daughter’s Head of House via email or telephone. Relevant email addresses can be found on the school’s website.
