Celebration 2025
We held our annual Celebration evening on Tuesday, October 21st, at Knox Church. This occasion is a yearly tradition we all look forward to. The night's theme, "Life is a Highway", was a fitting tribute to the diverse and dynamic journeys we all undertake in life. For several weeks leading up to the event, the school was immersed in a flurry of rehearsals that culminated in a truly spectacular evening of song, thoughtful speeches, and, of course, the eagerly anticipated and legendary Year 13 Medley. Celebration is always a showcase for our diverse musical talent, and this year was no exception, featuring stellar performances from "All Blues," our smooth and sophisticated jazz band; Wairua Pūhou, who brought their powerful presence to the stage; our stunning choir, delighting everyone with the charming piece, "Taylor the Latte Boy;" and our accomplished orchestra, adding depth and grandeur to the program. A massive thank you must go to the driving force behind the music: Mr Shields once again showcased his immense musical talent, expertly leading the strong and talented "Celebration Band," made up of his amazing music students. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a cast of clever people who ensure we sound so good! We also extend our sincere gratitude to the teachers who dedicated their time and talent to support the various musical ensembles: Dr Martin, Mr Bleckinger, Mr Herrera, Ms Thomson, and, of course, Mr McLaren for leading our orchestra. Every student who took part should feel very proud of themselves for the effort, the enthusiasm, and the heart-warming show of school spirit they brought to the stage.
A special note of thanks must go to our dedicated MediaLab Film Club for capturing the entire evening. Their efforts make it possible to share the video footage with you all.
