Kia ora koutou

Exciting times at Otago Girls’ High School today as the crane arrived to lift the scaffolding trusses onto the roof ready to replace the historic tiled roof which will be replaced like-for-like with the original orange tiles under Heritage New Zealand guidelines. Simultaneously a sprinkler system will be installed in the school hall. Building in the rest of the school continues apace with the noisy works recommencing at the close of the NCEA exams. Thanks to Naylor Love and Geeves Scaffolding for their care and workarounds during this exam period.

Our Board met last evening and restated their absolute commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. There is no change in our extensive teaching of Mātauranga Māori in our curriculum and our commitment to Te Tiriti in the wider everyday life of the school. The Board will be sending out a letter to you next week outlining this.

We wish Year 10 well for their camps next week and thank you to all of the teachers who make this happen. Year 9 students join with their brother school this afternoon in the Friends First programme and will have an enrichment week filled with fun activities and connection next week. Good Luck to seniors for the remaining NCEA examinations.
