Introducing our Head Girl for 2017

Maddy Campbell —

My name is Maddy Campbell and I am honoured and extremely excited to be the head prefect of Otago Girls' for 2017.

I hope I can make this year a great year for Otago Girls' and be an amazing role model for the school. I’m grateful for the opportunity which will push me outside of my comfort zone and enable me to do things that I would've never thought I would be doing back in Year 9. I am also extremely lucky to be doing them alongside an amazing group of girls, the prefects for 2017. I am very appreciative of the whole school’s support they have shown over the first two weeks of being head girl.

I have lived in Dunedin all my life and I attended Tainui Primary and Tahuna Normal Intermediate before coming to Otago Girls'. Ever since I can remember sport has been a massive part of my life, playing netball and basketball since primary school, and only in my later schooling years at high school, picking up volleyball which is now my favourite sport of all time. It is definitely a passion of mine, I love the team camaraderie that comes with the sports I play, I love how I can unleash my competitive side and I love how I can have fun and get fit while doing it.

My goals for the future include going to the States to play volleyball on a scholarship. I will need to work hard on my volleyball but also keep good grades to achieve this but I am driven and believe I will get there. The subjects I’m taking this year are English, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Education and a study. In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs, going to the beach, catching up with my friends and spending time with my family.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and wish everyone the best for 2017.
