Summertime Science Students

Dr I. Phillips, HOD Science —

Ella Rooney and Madeleine Reid of Year 12 were accepted into the Rotary Science and Technology Forum, to be held at Auckland University January 2018.

They will spend two weeks on campus attending lectures, completing special projects and visiting research institutes around Auckland. This is an awesome opportunity for Ella and Madeleine to investigate future careers, consider their options for further study and to be inspired by advances in science and technology. We wish them the best of luck in what will be an awesome experience. Many thanks to Dunedin Central Rotary Club for selecting the girls and providing funding assistance for them to attend the Forum.

Lucy Matehaere is one of only forty year 12 and 13 students from across New Zealand selected to be part of the Powering Potential Programme. This event is sponsored by The Royal Society of New Zealand and NZ Freemasons. Lucy will spend three days working with scientists completing a wide variety of group-based problem solving activities all of which are linked to the National Strategic Plan for Science in Society. This is a great opportunity for Lucy part of and a catalyst for future change in Science and Technology.
