TAHATŪ CAREERS EXPO - YEAR 11
The Tahatū Careers Expo - Dunedin was a great experience for our Year 11 students this week. Students were welcomed at the entrance with an opportunity to test ride a racing horse ( but not a real one!) A number of our adventurous students had a lot of fun trying to stay on the horse. Well done for giving it a go.
I was pleased to see students really engaging with the exhibitors and checking out all the options available. I’m sure they all came home with bags full of brochures, university and polytechnic information, as well as a range of other possibilities from different training organisations such as the Queenstown Resort College, Paramedicine and the Defence Forces.
It is never too early to start thinking about career and tertiary education. As I say to our students, “you don’t know what you don’t know." I’m sure the expo added to their kete of knowledge about life after school. In Year 11, students are always welcome to make an appointment to discuss their future plans and ideas with us in the careers office. They can do this by sending an email to either myself at bzk@otagogirls.school.nz or Mrs. Hill at hll@otagogirls.school.nz. In Year 12 and 13 all students are invited to attend a formal appointment in the careers office.
I look forward to chatting with the Year 11 students in the near future as they begin to explore ideas and future plans.
