Borland 2021

Miss W Dunn, TIC Biology —

What a privilege it was to be able to get back to Fiordland after the 2020 camp was cancelled due to Covid 19 with this year’s Year 12 Biology and Geography students. The experience in the field sets the students up for classwork over the next two years.

In addition to the usual field work in both subjects students had the opportunity to experience a range of environments including the alpine environment, Borland Forest, Clifden Cave and some rock climbing and kayaking.

A new addition this year was a day trip to Doubtful Sound. The landscape is impressive and provides an excellent context for both subjects. The weather was fantastic and it was a great way to spend the day soaking up the views.

While the students were a delight to take away, some of them made the most of a mass mafia game to “knock off” the staff during the week. Mrs Davidson was lost in the walkin chiller and Mr Richards in the forest!
