South Island Lotto Football Tournament

Mr C Richards, Deputy Principal and TIC Football —

The sun was shining in Timaru for a super week of football. The First XI Football team competed with 16 other teams in the South Island Lotto tournament. Being in the only pool with five teams meant we had to play more games than most other teams, but this also gave us more opportunities to score goals! We finished as silver medalists after a penalty shootout loss in the final against St Margarets after dominating territory and possession. Football can be funny like that!

In regular game time we scored 34 goals for and only 4 goals against with the following results:

Win 9-0 vs Kaiapoi High School

Win 5-1 vs Marian College

Win 9-0 vs Cromwell College

Win 3-0 vs St Kevin’s College

Win 5-0 vs Roncalli College (Quarter Final)

Win 5-3 on penalties (2-2 extra time) vs St Andrew’s College

Loss 4-2 on penalties (1-1 extra time) vs St Margaret’s College

Sophie Low was named our school's Most Valuable Player and Roree Latimer gained first equal for the tournament Golden Boot Award.

It was a fun and successful week with an awesome group of people and one cat (Honey the Motel’s cat) I would like to shout out a massive thank you to my co-coach Kushla Glover and Assistant Manager Kelly Latimer for being part of the team.
