Class Act: Celebrating Excellence in Jessie McGrouther and Jade Wilson
We are delighted to share that Jessie McGrouther and Jade Wilson have been named our school’s recipients of the prestigious Otago Daily Times Class Act Awards for 2025.
These awards celebrate excellence and recognise students across Otago who have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to achieving at the highest level while engaging in academic, sporting, and cultural pursuits. Jessie and Jade were formally recognised at a special awards ceremony in Dunedin, receiving their certificates from the Prime Minister.
Both students are exceptional role models who embody the values of our school community. Their dedication, perseverance, and success in a diverse range of areas are truly inspiring:
Jessie McGrouther has spent years growing into a role model for younger students. As Head Prefect for 2025, she has demonstrated outstanding leadership. Her sporting achievements are formidable, including breaking the Otago 17-year-old girls hammer throw record and achieving first place in the U19 Southland Secondary Schools Triathlon. She plans to pursue veterinary science next year.
Jade Wilson is a driven student who focuses intensely on her sporting and academic goals. She is a powerhouse in athletics, consistently excelling at Otago, South Island, and New Zealand championships, including achieving second place in the 4x100m relay at the New Zealand Track & Field Championships. She also demonstrates her versatility by participating in musical theatre. Jade plans to study law while continuing her athletics career.
Please join us in offering our warmest congratulations to Jessie and Jade. We look forward to watching them continue to excel as they transition to the next exciting chapter of their lives.
