International Women's Day
On Monday, our school came together to celebrate International Women’s Day, commemorating the achievements of women and girls everywhere and recognising those who inspire change and continue to push past boundaries. This year’s International Women’s Day theme was “Give to Gain,” encouraging generosity and collaboration and emphasising the power of reciprocity and support.
The day began with a special assembly, where we were privileged to host Emma Gilmour, a highly successful international rally driver and businesswoman. Emma shared some invaluable lessons from her own journey about navigating the unexpected turns and setbacks, inspiring us all with messages of perseverance and to keep moving forward, no matter how rough the road ahead.
We also celebrated our own at assembly, with special awards handed out to those nominated in one of 5 categories: Women in male-dominated sports, supporting and uplifting others, leadership, breaking stereotypes and women in STEM. Our school’s knowledge was also put to the test with a short Women’s Day quiz, with lollies handed out to those who knew their Women’s history!
Our celebration continued into lunch with some Just Dance in the hall, and through our non-uniform day we were able to raise over $600 for Women’s Refuge!
Thank you so much to everyone involved, including Emma Glimore for giving up her time to speak to us, the School Council Prefect team for organising the day and everyone who participated in supporting “Give to Gain!”
