First XI Cricket Match at Willows Cricket Club

Ms H Gilham, TIC Cricket —

Our First XI faced a seasoned St Margaret’s College team at the prestigious Willows Cricket Club in Loburn on Sunday. After enjoying a delicious lunch alongside the St Margaret’s players, we took to the field under the scorching Canterbury sun, successfully restricting their score to 154. Babet Doherty and Ava Couling shone with the ball, each claiming the wicket of an opening batter.

Batting proved challenging against a formidable bowling attack, but Emily Aubin’s impressive unbeaten 47 earned her the Player of the Day title, awarded by ex-White Fern Kirsty Bond. Despite a strong effort, St Margaret’s retained the Amy Satterthwaite/Suzie Bates Trophy for 2024.

We extend our gratitude to St Margaret’s College for hosting us, the Dormer Family for their hospitality, and all the whānau who traveled to support the team. Special thanks to Melissa Purnell for capturing the day with fantastic photos.

We’re already looking forward to 2025!
