Absence messages for students

Mrs S Porter, Deputy Principal - Wellbeing —

Regular attendance (90%+) is strongly connected to achievement. The Ministry of Education has set a target in 2024 for all schools to strive towards. This target is to have at least 70% of their school roll attending 90% + of the time by December 2024. Otago Girls' currently has 64% of students attending regularly (90%+).

If your child is going to be absent from school, please contact the Attendance Officer by either:

1. Calling 03 474 0496 and pressing line 1. You can leave a message for Mrs Grant. These are cleared regularly. Please use this phone line rather than calling line zero and being redirected back to the main office, as leaving a message on the attendance phone line helps to centralise absence messages and streamline communication.

2. Using the School App to report any absences. https://schoolappsnz.co.nz/

3. Emailing the Attendance Officer directly - Mrs Jill Grant jg@otagogirls.school.nz
