Cancellation of OGHS 150th Jubilee

Mrs J Smallfield —

We are very saddened and disappointed to announce that we have had to cancel our Otago Girls’ High School 150th Jubilee due to be held at Labour Weekend. The cancellation is due to the current Covid-19 alert levels which means the event cannot be held. We had 700 people registered for the event which obviously exceeds the 100 person gatherings allowed under Level 2.

The Committee considered all options and postponing the event was not viable for several reasons, particularly financially. We are very disappointed that after years of preparation that this is the outcome. Thank you to you all for supporting us and we know you will be as saddened and gutted as we all are that we can no longer hold the event.

The unveiling of our commissioned sculpture by ex-girl and renowned sculptor Helen Pollock will take place later in the year and the pictorial history of the school to mark our 150th year is currently being printed.
