Year 9 Japanese students have had a week of Japanese language and culture.

The theme for this year was Tanabata which is a festival in Japan focused on stars and is celebrated around the same time as Matariki. The week began with paper craft making dioramas of Tanabata. These were used later in the week to make a video story. We also experienced Taiko drumming, tea ceremony and have ended the week with a visit to Jitsu restaurant for a Japanese lunch. "It was very fun", "I learnt heaps of culture and language" "The highlight was taiko drumming and eating at Jitsu" ​
