Otago Secondary Schools Cross Country Series
The Otago Secondary Schools Cross Country series start with the Logan
Park road race on Tuesday 13 th May. Conditions were not great but we
had 22 keen runners race in this first event. All runners gained pleasing
results with Eva McLean winning the U15 girls race and also taking out
the fastest time. We look forward to the next race in this series which is
the Caversham Relays being held at Kettle Park on Wednesday 21 st May
starting at 1.45pm.
School Sport vs Outside of School Sport
Students who sign up and play for school sports teams often find
themselves juggling multiple commitments, especially if they are also
involved in outside-of-school sports. However, some external sports
organizations have strict rules, such as not allowing athletes to participate
in other activities for a week before a major competition. This can create
a challenge for students who are passionate about both their school team
and their outside sport. The restrictions often stem from the desire to
ensure athletes are fully rested and focused, but it can limit the students'
ability to engage in other activities or enjoy a well-rounded experience.
Balancing these commitments can be difficult, especially when each team
has its own set of expectations and time constraints
Sports Results
We are interested in what you are doing. If you are competing in sports
outside of school please let us know your results so that we can celebrate
your successes.
