Student Learning Conferences and NCEA Update

Mrs B. Davidson, Assistant Prinicpal —

These take place on Thursday 22 August and students in Years 10 to 13 should have their appointment times for this.

It is an important time for students to reflect with their parents/ whanau about their progress in NCEA and to work out what they need to do for the rest of the year to achieve success. This is especially important in Year 12 as grades count for applying for university and other study scholarships next year.

It is also important to reflect on wellbeing and study-life balance at this time. Studying hard is not mutually exclusive of wellbeing and in fact when we are at our busiest we are often at our best and feel our best. Building a study timetable with scheduled time for exercise and family activities is the best place to start.

The focus for students should switch from internal assessment to external assessment over the next few weeks. Students should prepare well for parallel exams which take place 11 to 17 September and it is not too early to begin this preparation. See the Careers website Study Tips on the student landing page to get some tips on active and efficient studying.
