Principal's Report

Ms L. Miller, Principal —

This week has been Spirit Week and our Prefects have arranged a number of events to keep everyone’s spirits up as we braved the cold snap and the weariness that marks the end of a very busy term.

Yesterday students had the opportunity to Jump Jam with Dancing with the Stars competitor and ACT party MP David Seymour. Today we have a mufti day in aid of Women’s Refuge.

Teachers have been putting in a tremendous effort in marking examinations that were sat last week and students and parents should be able to view progress marks for these exams through the parent portal today. Please contact the school office if you have any problems accessing the information. The holidays provide a great opportunity for the girls to begin the next stage of their revision for NCEA and to catch up or get ahead on this preparation.

Last weekend our Aerobics teams enjoyed success at the National Aerobics Competitions.

Our intrepid Year 12 Phys Ed students have been braving the elements at their Moke Lake Camp over the past few days while our French, German and Japanese language trips are enjoying their time overseas. Next week sees some of our media studies and textiles students travel to Wellington to attend the World of Wearable Arts show and take part in a variety of activities including a visit to Parliament, Weta Workshop, Victoria University, Toi Whariiki and the National Film Archives.

This week marked an exciting milestone for our school as we completed the purchase of the old High Tide Restaurant building on Kitchener Street. This harbour-side property is our new base for water sports with our rowers already operating out of it. We are looking forward to developing this facility for the benefit of all students.

I wish everyone a restful holiday and will see the girls back for Term Four. Please note that students are required to wear summer uniform for the rest of the year.
