Kidds Bush camp
This year 38 students and six staff took off for the hidden treasure that is Kidds Bush DOC campsite. We had a wonderful week full of sunshine, games and activities.
Although we did have a few spots of rain on the Tuesday morning the rest of the
week was fantastic. On both the Tuesday and Thursday we walked. One of the walks
was on the Young River valley walk and involved a jet boat ride and the other
walk was the Sawyer Burn walk which was an up-hill grunt. The girls did really
well on their walks and learnt quickly about fitness levels and walking in the
outdoors. On the Wednesday the students did camp activities in the morning and
these involved fire lighting, shelter building and problem solving. In the
afternoon we went to Makaroa Primary School where the students played outdoor
games with 16 Makaroa school pupils ranging from five to eleven year olds. Thank you to Michelle Matthews for organising
this.
As well as doing these activities were also able to go swimming most days, mountain biking and having a variety of night activities.
Thank you so much to a great bunch of girls and a massive thank you to the staff that came on camp. If it wasn’t for staff offering to come on these camps we wouldn’t be able to run such fantastic programmes.
Thanks again and have a safe and happy holiday
