Rugby Victory

Congratulations to the OGHS 1st XV who played the final of the Otago Secondary Schools Rugby against St Hilda's on Wednesday night. It was a well fought game with OGHS spending a lot of the game defending but when the crucial times came for points the team worked together and gained results. OGHS took the title winning over St Hilda's 12-10.

Triangular Tournament

On Friday 12 August Otago Girls’ High School hosted Waitaki Girls’ High School and Southland Girls’ High School in our annual triangular exchange. Due to Covid the last time that we hosted the exchange was 2019. We had a wide range of sports competing throughout the day and what a stunning day Dunedin put on. The sports ranged from Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Football, Hockey, Badminton, E-sports and Debating. A great day was had by all of our Senior A teams, and this is also assisting our Senior A sports teams that are competing over Winter Sports week. The tournament was won by Otago Girls’ High School. Congratulations to all those students who competed throughout the day.

Junior Exchange

Our next exchange is the Junior exchange which is being held at Waitaki Girls’ High School this year. Teams participating in this exchange are Netball Y9A & B, Y10A & B, Badminton, E-sports and Junior A Basketball Team. Consent forms and letters are presently being given to those students that will be travelling to Oamaru on Thursday 8th September.

Sports Uniforms

Just a few things to remember when turning up and representing Otago Girls’ High School your sporting events. Please remember to be removing all jewellery and to be wearing our sports uniforms with pride. You are all amazing and we are seeing amazing results from all our sport teams. Guideline policies can be found in our sports policy booklet which is online on the Sports page.

Aerobics

Good luck to all our Aerobics students who are participating in the Aerobic Regional competition being held at Kavanagh College over the weekend. All netball teams playing semi-finals games, Basketball teams playing semi-finals.

Hockey

Good luck to the OGHS B Hockey team who are playing in the final of Division 3, Monday 22nd August at 4:00pm.

WEDNESDAY MORNING FUN, FOOD AND FITNESS – This has now started for Term 3 but we have not been having a great response. It would be awesome for you to come along to support the students from the Sports Institute as well as working on your “fun, food and fitness”. Wednesday mornings 7am-8am. See you there!
