Junior Sports Week

Ms C. Hokianga, Sports Co-ordinator —

I would like to thank all staff members and coaches who have given their time up to support the girls during Junior Sports Week and of course I would like to thank the students who have been awesome throughout the week with many of the girls participating all week long in their different sporting codes.

Waterpolo

Congratulations to the junior water polo team who performed admirably over the day coming up against strong opposition from  King's High School and Otago Boys' High School.

Handball

Congratulations also to the handball team who did not lose a game the whole day and went on to win the female section of the handball tournament.

Dodge Ball

Six teams from Otago Girls' High School competed in the Junior Dodge ball tournament. The Year 9 team of the Triple B’s won the Girls' A competition and this is the third year in a row Otago Girls have won it. The Year 10’s played in the Mixed grade and despite all three making the semifinals a plucky Logan Park side beat the OGHS Dodgers in the final. 59 girls out playing sport and showing the school values was enough of a prize for all of us though. Kai pai girls.

Volleyball

Three teams competed in the Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, Year 9 A and Year 9 B and Year 10A. This tournament also enabled the girls to have some more tournament competition before heading to Christchurch next week for the SISS Junior Volleyball Tournament. The 10A’s end up 3rd,  the 9A’s 4th losing to the 10A’s  two sets to one and the Year 9B’s were 7th. A great day was had by all that were participating.

Touch

Our Junior A team competed in the touch tournament and was placed 3rd. What a great day for the girls.
