A successful season for our cricket team

Mrs R Flanagan, TIC Cricket —

OGHS cricket players have had a very busy couple of weeks.

On Thursday 23rd March we were invited to play in the inaugural Bates/Satterthwaite Cup against St Margaret's College (Christchurch). This was an amazing opportunity to play on a grass wicket in the beautiful surroundings of the formerly male only Willows Cricket Club in Lowburn. We then had a very close game against Christchurch Girls' High School at Hagley Park.

A number of our players were involved in the district tournament on Sunday 26th March.

The Otago Southland Regional Gillette Venus games were held on Monday 27th March at Brooklands Park in Mosgiel. We had a great win against Wakatipu High School. An awesome bowling effort saw them bowled out for 41. Grace Barnes took 5 wickets for 9 runs, including a wicket maiden. Some sharp batting by Beth and Kate saw us win the semi final. That afternoon we took on St Hilda’s First XI in the final. We won the toss again and chose to field. The first innings finished with St Hilda’s 120 for 5. Unfortunately we only made 75 runs. Well done to all the players, a successful term of cricket. Looking forward to seeing how this young team improves over the next few years.
