NZ Women’s Rugby “Black Ferns” Visit
Last week we were fortunate to have three of the World Cup Champion Black Ferns visit our school, Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali, Toka Natua and Aroha Savage.
They brought with them the World Cup trophy and shared with us some of the experiences that they had while they were at the World Cup last year. They told us about where and when they started their rugby careers and the challenges they face juggling their rugby commitments with work and their personal life. It was evident their world cup rugby success was due to the passion they have for the game and the strong Black Fern culture they are a part of. After the Q & A session, they then lead us through a skills and drills session, finishing with a game of rippa rugby. A huge thank you to the NZRU and ORU who provided this opportunity for the female rugby players at our school.
