Celebrate 2018

Ms B. Kingi and Mr S. Pickard —

The “Celebrate” Otago Secondary Schools' Award Art and Design Exhibitions are an annual exhibition hosted by the Dunedin School of Art and Design.

The Celebrate Art exhibition is open to Year 12 and 13 students with prizes including a scholarship award. This year 13 schools from across Otago took part in the exhibition with the top prize being awarded to Victoria Tong of St Hilda’s Collegiate. Congratulations to Ariana Knudson-Hollebon who received a Certificate of Excellence and well done to the other participants; Toni Cuthill, Devon Gamble, Hannah George, Hayley Dalzell, Hahna Nichols, Abby Vinicombe, Alysha Jo Nolan, Samantha Ward and Alisha Tapp.

Celebrate Design is run concurrently with Celebrate Art and is now in it's third year. So far Otago Girls High School has taken out the supreme award for Architecture every year. This year Iona Hibbert from Year 12 took out the award with her innovative design for a house boat. The judges were very impressed with the balance and detail of her design. Ariana Knudson-Hollebon completed a fantastic night gaining a highly commended in Architecture to go with her prize for Painting. Rebecca McKay, Georgia Pope, Annie Sansom, and Taylah Johnston all had excellent entries in the Architecture section and Emily Finnie entered her design in the Fashion section.

Next year we hope to expand our entries and compete in more sections so we can continue to showcase the wide range of work the girls produce.
