Year 12 Careers Week

Mrs R Bazsika, Careers Education Leader —

15 to 19 March

Careers planning, preparation and education are essential for all young people. Next week students in Year 12 who are not at the Biology/Outdoor Education/Geography camp at Borland will have the opportunity to take part in a range of careers focused activities. Beginning the week we are very lucky to have Amy Scott who is a dynamic and popular presenter. Amy will be sharing with our students and teachers key ideas about their communication styles and how to understand and connect with other people who may have a different communication style to themselves. We also have presentations and workshops from career professionals on a range of other topics such as apprenticeships, cv - know how, career pathway planning, interview techniques and ‘what spins your wheels’ which looks at how we can manage our responses in different situations.

On Wednesday students will take part in either a Literacy, Numeracy, or Science workshop if required. Alternatively, students will be given a space and place to complete projects, assessments and portfolio work for other subjects.

On Thursday and Friday students will be out and about in a work experience placement which they have found for themselves. This is a very valuable experience and many students gain part time work or an excellent reference from their employers.

I look forward to a positive week for all involved.
