Genetics Otago visit

Miss W Dunn, TIC Biology —

On Friday 16th September Year 10 students were fortunate to hear four guest speakers from Genetics Otago covering a range of topics. Not only did they hear about genetics in plants and utilising these to maximise productivity via photosynthesis, but also for detecting and managing a range of health conditions in humans. In addition to the science, they heard four stories from women in science who are all passionate about their careers but didn't necessarily know what they wanted to do when they were at school. They were all excellent speakers discussing their backgrounds, the importance of relationships to people, the natural environment and persistence. That learning comes about through making mistakes. I thank them for giving their time and expertise to us.

We had the following staff and students:Jordon Lima
