Sisters Programme Shared Lunch

Cheree Henderson —

Today at lunchtime, our Sisters gathered in the hall to enjoy a shared lunch together. The Sisters Programme connects each of our Year 13 students with a Year 9 student in a tuakana-teina (older sibling–younger sibling) relationship, fostering mentorship, support, and friendship.

Throughout the year, our Year 13 students meet with their younger "sisters" to build a positive connection and help them settle into life at Otago Girls'. The programme has been highly successful in supporting the transition to high school, with many Year 9 students gaining a strong sense of belonging within their first term.

It was wonderful to see the friendships that have formed and the warm, inclusive spirit of the OGHS whānau in action today.
