Polyfest - Wairua Pūhou

Matua Mac Te Nghaue —

Last night, Wairua Pūhou performed at the Otago Polyfest held at the Edgar Centre. It has been a year filled with frustration with us not being ready to compete at regionals at Te Hautonga.

Last night was the culmination of three weeks of very hard mahi. Wairua Pūhou (Young Spirit), stood on te atamira (stage), proud and confident and performed a tight and complete Kapa Haka bracket. The vocals and harmonies were on point and the aggression was there when it needed to be.

A massive mihi to our senior girls and boys for their hard mahi. Another mihi to our old girls, Jen and Kaitlyn Marsh, Rinaria and old boy Gravy (Sam Gavin), without their mahi we wouldn't have been on stage. We would like to acknowledge the haka tautoko at the end of our performance especially a very hearty (Nagti) Paikea from Balmacewen Intermediate. Finally to the organisers of Polyfest, what a professionally, slick run event, ka mihi ki koutou mō te awhi ki a mātou.
