Earlier this year, Loji Moharram, was the recipient of a scholarship to attend the online International Science School. This week she has been participating in this programme , an opportunity provided to her by the University of Sydney.

She has attended Physics and Chemistry workshops with more to come later this week.. Loji has examined microplastics found in an environmental sample (in her case it was sand) and learnt methods of filtering microplastics from our environment. In another workshop Loji created her own battery using copper and aluminum electrodes and was then able to observe the hydrogen gas bubbles starting to form in the cup around the pencil!

A highlight has been a question and answer session with Derek Muller, a Science Communicator, film-maker and Youtuber responsible for the YouTube channel Veriatasium.
