An Honour for Prize Giving
Welcome Home Mai Chen
Our annual Prize Giving was a wonderful celebration of the dedication and hard work of our students. We extend our warmest congratulations to every student acknowledged for their achievements this year!
It was a particularly special evening as we farewelled our incredible Year 13 cohort. We wish them all the very best for their next adventures and success in their lives beyond the school gates.
We are also proud to announce our top scholars and newly appointed leaders:
Dux for 2025: Caitlin Gibbs
Proxime Accessit for 2025: Holly Ingham
Head Prefect for 2026: Phoebe Ashdown
Deputy Head Prefect for 2026: Emily Lokman
This year's Prize Giving ceremony was elevated by the presence of a cherished alumna, Mai Chen, who returned to share this special occasion with us, accompanied by her mother, Jean.
Mai, who holds a special place in the heart of OGHS as a former Head Girl and Dux, offered our students powerful words of wisdom and inspiration. She encouraged students to focus on what they can do, noting that while they may not realize it, they are already leaving a footprint on the world—inspiration that will surely guide them as they pursue their next steps.
Mai was particularly impressed by what she called our school’s "super diversity" and highlighted the transformational leadership she observed in our Principal.
We were especially pleased to see Mai and Jean present their award for Transformational Leadership to this year’s worthy recipient, Emma Fahey.
Mai's impressive achievements continue to reflect positively on our school community; most recently, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Otago in 2023.
We are so grateful that, despite her incredibly busy schedule, Mai continues to dedicate time to our school. Thank you, Mai and Jean, for sharing this memorable evening with us.
