Student Learning Conferences January 2017

Mrs B. Davidson, Assistant Principal —

As you will be aware we have revised our Parent-Teacher Interview programme to better support you and your daughter with her learning. The model we have moved to shows considerable success in increasing student engagement in their learning and progress, greater sharing of student work with parents and families, improved school attendance patterns and better overall well-being for the student.

There will be two Student Mentoring meetings when parents will meet at a specified time with their daughter and her mentor to look at her academic achievement, attendance and engagement in school activities. It is also a chance for you to ask questions and for your daughter to share and show what she has been doing in her classes. These meetings will last twenty minutes. The first of these will be on Wednesday 8 March. A second date will follow in Term Three. It is expected that all students will have a parent, caregiver or other significant adult come to these meeting with them. The importance of these meetings and the home-school partnership that they form cannot be over-stated.

It is also important for all students entering Years 11 to 13 to attend their Course Confirmation appointment with their mentor in January. Parents and caregivers are most welcome to accompany their daughter to this appointment.  Your daughter will have received her appointment date and time for either January 30 or 31.

Please allow 20 minutes for this appointment and arrive five minutes beforehand. At this meeting contact details will be confirmed such as emails and mobile numbers so please make sure that brings these with her. Students entering Years 12 and 13 should also bring a copy of their exam results.

In addition to the mentoring meetings above, there will be a normal set of Parent Teacher five minute interviews in Term Two, allowing you to touch base with all subject teachers. We also encourage you to email teachers, deans or mentors, or make additional appointments at any time; if you have concerns or would just like to speak with us.

We look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Have a safe and Happy Christmas.
