Year 11 Outdoor Education - Day Tramp

Libby Briggs, Year 11 —

On Thursday 20 June both Year 11 Outdoor Education classes set off for our second tramp of the year.

We began by walking up the Leith Saddle track, then along Swampy Summit where we stopped for lunch. The smell of pumpkin soup, bacon and egg sandwiches and Petra’s traditional home baking was a real treat. From here we made our way down the Burns Track and then onto the Rustlers Ridge track making it an approximate 10km loop. Although it was bitterly cold, we got to see some amazing sights and some beautiful scenery. Skills we learnt and applied during the day were; map reading, using appropriate communication as well as supporting and managing our group. We finally reached the van after crossing a creek, following the signs of wild pigs and walking through heaps of muddy tracks. What a day to remember!! We ended the walk with excitement and laughter as we headed back to school.
