The Sports Council annual fundraiser took place on Friday 22 November.

This involved 14 teams of four battling it out over three games of lawn bowls at North East Valley Bowling Club. All the teams started off quite social yet quickly the competitive nature came out of the variety of people in the sports community. First place went to Chris Richards and the Crooked Vultures with a team comprising of ex-first XI coach Eddie Dijkstra and second XI coach Jonathan Otley. The Otago Sports Depot came in second with the Incrediblebowls a team comprising of two Otago rugby players.

The Sports Council would like to thank all of their sponsors, who put in teams, sponsored ends, or gave raffle prizes. The evening raised around $3000, and this money will be used to help develop coaches and support students in accessing sport. It will be an annual event so we look forward to it being even bigger next year.
