RUGBY- Season will be kicking off soon

Players and coaches are excited to be starting the rugby season.

It is great to see many students keen to play this year, in particular at Year 9. Trainings have started this week and will run on Mondays, 3:15 to 4:30pm at the Kensington Oval. 

Students are required to pay fees as soon as possible to the main school office.

Fees:

Rugby 7’s - $15,

Rugby 10’s & 15’s - $25

Equipment/Uniform: Students need to have rugby boots, school socks (purchase at the main school office $15), mouth guard and navy shorts. A school rugby jersey will be provided.

Rugby 7’s Competition: Wednesday 24 June - Wednesday 29 July (4 week competition)

Games will be two 7min halves, with a 10min break between games.

Junior teams will have two games each Wednesday at 4pm and 4:30pm.

Senior teams will have two games each Wednesday at 5pm and 5:30pm

Rugby 10’s/15’s Competition: Wednesday 5 August - Wednesday 23 September (7 week competition)

COVID-19 EXPECTATIONS

OSSSA have outlined the following expectations that schools must follow to take part in the rugby competition. We would really appreciate your support in helping us follow these.

IF UNWELL STAY HOME

  • If unwell, players, coaches and managers must stay at home. This applies to both training and games.

  • If anyone starts to show symptoms of cold or flu during training and games they are to be sent home immediately.

CONTACT TRACING

  • Each team will have a teacher who will be responsible for keeping a record of players, coaches and managers attending training and games.

  • Spectators must manually check in via iDMe.co.nz and enter a 5 digit venue code for the location/rugby field they are at. These codes will be identified on the competition draw which will be posted on the OSSSA website and our school community sports page for rugby.

CLEANING AND HYGIENE

  • All participants must wash and dry their hands before and after training and games. Coaches and Managers will supply hand sanitiser however we encourage all students to carry their own.

  • Mouth guards MUST be worn, however players must endeavour to minimise touching these. If taken out at half time, hands must be hand sanitised.

  • Spitting or similar actions are prohibited.

  • Water bottles & mouth guards must not be shared under any circumstances

  • Equipment will be cleaned and disinfected before and after training and games.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

  • All parents and spectators are advised to maintain physical distancing of 2m while at games and when picking their children up from training.

  • Teams are also expected where possible, to maintain physical distancing, eg. team talks.

  • There will be team cheers at the end of games but no handshakes.
