Heaven Wharepapa-Down (Year 11) is the recipient of the Outward Bound ‘Leaps and Bounds’ sponsorship. This one-off sponsorship was generously made available from an ex-girl who fundraised $3000 to provide an opportunity for a student and their parent/caregiver to attend Outward Bound. The full cost of the course is $6000, and the student is expected to fundraise the remainder of the fees.

Leaps and Bounds is “The ultimate shared adventure for a parent/caregiver and their teenager (13 - 15 years). Learn about yourself and each other in a challenging but supportive environment. Form a relationship that is real, open, honest, and based on respect, while sharing the experience with other adults and teenagers in your group.” - Outward Bound

Heaven and one of her parents will be participating on the course in September this year. The 8-day outdoor adventure course is based in Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds. Heaven will be participating together with her parent in activities that may include tramping, camping, sea journeys, water challenges, and height challenges.
